DETAILS Mask made of hand-modeled and painted wire mesh decorated with woven hair. It is characterized by large blue eyes with embroidered eyelashes as well as eyebrows and painted lips.
FUNCTION Regional Festivities (Tunantada / Chonguinada) In the tunantada satire is done. The dance steps imitate the posture of Iberians and Andeans in colonial times.

This mask, known as Jaujina, represents the Peruvian mestiza woman, a descendant of Spanish blood and Xauxa lineage. It is crafted in modeled wire mesh and hand-painted, featuring woven black hair, velvety skin, large blue eyes, red lips, and black eyebrows.

The Jaujina mask is used in regional festivities such as Tunantada or Chonguinada.

During Tunantada, satire is performed.

Dance steps mimic the postures of Iberians and Andeans during colonial times.

Máscara conhecida como Jaujina, que representa a mulher mestiça peruana, descendente de sangue espanhol e de linhagem xauxa. Elaborada em malha de arame modelada e pintada à mão, com cabelo preto tecido, pele aveludada, grandes olhos azuis, lábios vermelhos e sobrancelhas negras.

A máscara Jaujina é usada em festividades regionais como a Tunantada ou Chonguinada.

Na Tunantada, é feita sátira.

Os passos de dança imitam as posturas dos ibéricos e andinos na época colonial.

La máscara Jaujina se utiliza en festividades regionales como la Tunantada o Chonguinada.

En la Tunantada se realiza sátira.

Los pasos de baile imitan las posturas de los ibéricos y andinos en la época colonial.
